- Chat & Diagnostic Data: Messages and prompts you send to Guy, along with the AI-generated responses.
- Used Car Research: Vehicle searches, VINs you look up, and reports you view.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, and crash logs for diagnostic purposes.
- Usage Data: Features you use, screens you visit, and how long you interact with the app.
02 How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide, improve, and personalize the Mechanic Guy experience.
- Power the AI assistant (Guy) with vehicle-specific context to give you accurate, relevant answers.
- Store and sync your garage, maintenance history, and research across your devices.
- Improve the accuracy and helpfulness of our AI diagnostic models.
- Send you maintenance reminders and app notifications (only with your permission).
- Analyze usage patterns to identify bugs and improve app performance.
- Respond to your support requests and communicate important updates.
03 Information Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: Trusted vendors who help us operate the app (cloud hosting, analytics, AI model providers) under strict confidentiality agreements.

Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers. We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest) and conduct regular security audits.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
No system is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password for your Mechanic Guy account.
05 Vehicle & Diagnostic Data
Vehicle and diagnostic information you enter is used solely to provide you with relevant AI assistance and maintenance tracking. We may use anonymized, aggregated vehicle data to improve our diagnostic models — but this data is never linked back to you or your account.
VINs you look up during used car research are submitted to third-party vehicle history providers to retrieve reports. Those providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle VIN lookups.
06 AI Interactions
Conversations you have with Guy are processed by our AI infrastructure. We may use chat logs in anonymized form to train and improve our models. We do not use your conversations to serve you ads.
- AI responses are for informational purposes only and do not constitute professional mechanical advice.
- Always consult a qualified mechanic for safety-critical repairs.
- You can request deletion of your conversation history at any time from the app settings.
